Dear Alan, Lorna & Girls,
We have
just spent the most glorious weekend with Neal, Vanessa & boys – we met
Neal & family on the Greytown Road at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday morning &
proceeded to Safari World – the weather was glorious. Debbie, Lion el,
Jonathon, Fay, Sherry & Clinton were with us & later on Ronald, Les
& Mr Jones arrived – well we spent nearly the whole day going down the
water slide on tubes – we would all go one after another & holds onto each
other & make this hugh chain – Dad, Bonesy & myself as well – Vanessa
said it was the best day she had had in years. Dad & I went to see the
elephant show it was excellent we took most of the kids with us too. Yesterday
was another perfect day 7 we all spent the day in our swimming pool then all
had lunch here – I made brown bread rolls & white bread rolls & they
were a hugh success.
I broke
my glasses on Friday so I have been battling – but this morning Dad had a
bright idea & wired them together but I have spent the whole day today
going to hospital & to the shops trying to sort out to get new glasses –
now have to go again tomorrow to Pmb to see the optician (Mr Giles) I have paid
R10 & the hospital will pay the rest – I have also to see the eye
specialist on the 17th February as I have a cataract growing over my
eye so we will see what they will do.
Fay has
started swimming lessons & after her first lesson the teacher said she was
as far as most kids took 6 lessons to get that far – she was so keen that when
the teacher told her to put her head under the water she did it so
enthusiastically that she banged her forehead on the step. Jonathon had as been
playing yup about going to school & the school have been phoning &
getting us to go & fetch him early – the Friday he refused to go at all –
he just wants to go fishing all day everyday – he is very good at fishing &
catches quite a lot of fish – so today
he was told no school no fishing so off he went like a lamb & thoroughly
enjoyed himself.
I was
really worried about Tam-lyn going to boarding school, but she has settled down
so well & is enjoying it. I phone her once a week & I can’t believe the
difference in her. She comes home for weekends. The whole Colligham family are
coming for the day on Saturday – Jenny has bought a Violin & Flute & is
having music lessons – she has a part time job at the school in Bergville
teaching music.
Hope
you received all the Xmas parcels.
We had
5 summer days now its cold today I’ve worn a jersey all day. I am selling quite a few kilos of chilies
each week.
