Dear Alan,
I hope
this reaches you by your birthday. If I wait any longer to see if the address
is right I will be too late. You say you have a lot of work to do and in the
National Times last week there was an article about dentists. I will send it in
another letter but it does say that the government is not letting any more
dentists in for two years. Doesn’t say what will happen then.
I think Dad asked
you in his letter what you would like us to send you. There must be something
you would like that you can’t get in Johannesburg. The white people there are
supposed to have a high standard of living but there must be some things they
don’t have. Your birthday this year is on Show Day so will be having a rest.
We will
be thinking of you because you re a long way away and it must be hard for you
in a strange country.
Love
from Mum
And all
the rest of the family.
