Dear Alan,
Christmas
holidays have disrupted us a bit and it is a while since I have written. We had
Christmas day at home Lois, Beverley and Pamela and Ray were here for lunch.
Ray went to Sharene’s for tea and Ken came to tea. The next day Beverley, Dad,
Lois and Ken went to the test between Pakistan and Australia. You should have
seen them when they got home. It had been a dull cool day but the four of them
were burnt on the face. They had hats on so it must have been the wind.
Beverley and Dad got blisters on their faces. Dad put cream on his face and got
some block out cream. He put this on when we went up to Trentham but instead of
getting better his face all swelled up and he didn’t feel too good. He didn’t
get better until we realised he must be allergic to the cream and didn’t put
anymore on.
Anne,
Dennis and Ben came for tea on Boxing Day. We couldn’t have everyone all
together or there would have been arguments but having two Christmases it
worked out alright.
We have
started getting things in order to come to South Africa we are getting
passports in the next few days. We
should be getting all the information from the travel agent but it hasn’t come
yet. We will not actually book anything from here until we hear from you what
is the best things to do and see.
It has
taken a long time for Dad to realise it but he has at last decided he can go
away for a few weeks and the place will not fall down. Not before time.
We saw
Joe and Audrey last week. They are just back from a holiday in Europe. They
stayed with Joe’s mother in Hungary, they stayed with a brother in Switzerland
another brother in Denmark then they stayed with a cousin of Audrey’s in
England. At least ¼ of their photos were
taken when they were sitting around a table eating.
Evelyn
and Bill are coming for tea tomorrow night. They had a good holiday in New
Zealand when they went to Ian’s wedding.
It
really is about time we went travelling too.
Love
from Mum
