Dear Alan, Lorna & Girls,
We are just sitting & waiting for Jenny & kids to
comeback from P.M.Burg, Jenny has been attending a lecture & the kids +
Besters have been at the cinema – the Collighams don’t get those luxuries in
Bergville. Regan will spend the weekend here & then we will take him back
to school on Monday, he has been off for 3 days with ringworm. We had a lovely
holiday with the Hayes & the …. At Southbroom – we went swimming just about
everyday & did lots of sleeping – we had about 200mm of rain while we were
there & only 10mm here, but since then we have had 40mm so the dam is full
for winter.
The Lumgairs & the Besters were camping at Fanies Island
& despite all the rain they had a good time. I can’t remember if I told you in my last letter
that Sherry became engaged to Izan on the 1st April we had a lovely
party next door. I really like Izan (he is very Afrikaans) but very sensible
& I know he will look after Sherry. They plan to marry on the 2nd
December.
We have been without a car since coming back from Southbroom
– the little Toyota has a cracked cylinder head & being so old, can’t get a
replacement & the VW limped to Southbroom & home again & Dad has
spent all his time getting it going again & I think it is going now so Dad
will fit it out as a camper then I hope he will sell it, but doubt it as he
wants too much for it 7 its rusted to pieces. I would like to sell both cars
& get 1 reliable one.
Well no sign of the Collighams & it’s nearly 6pm &
Jenny & girls still have to get to Bergville.
Must close now.
